Product Description
ARMORSIL Retarder 200 is a polycarboxylate based superplasticizer developed particularly for use in ready mixed concrete to give extended slump retention and high strength development of high specification grade concrete mixes. ARMORSIL Retarder does not contain calcium chloride and other corroding materials. ARMORSIL Retarder is a blend of polymer-based plasticizer and proprietary retarding agent.
The chemical process of ARMORSIL Retarder when activated temporarily stops the hydration process, delaying the initial setting time in proportion to the amount of dosing. At the completion of the initial setting time, curing commences at a regulated rate. Concrete with ARMORSIL Retarder 200 can maintain workability in excess of 3 hours.

ARMORSIL Retarder 200 is typically used to produce:
- Pre stressed Concrete
- Concrete requiring water reduction and set time control
- Hot weather concrete placement
- Ready mixed concrete requiring long travel time from plant to site
- Production of site mixed and ready-mix concrete
- Concrete with low water binder ratio
- Concrete placing in congested steel reinforcement Depending on dosage rate used; high flow and self compacting concrete (SCC)
- Slim elements requiring a high standard of surface finish
- High performance / high strength concrete
- Wear protective gloves and eye protection during work
- Avoid contact with eyes and skin
- If skin contact occurs, wash skin thoroughly
- If in eyes, hold eyes open and flood with warm water and seek medical attention immediately

Avoid aerosol formation. Avoid inhalation of mists/vapours. Avoid skin contact.
No special measures necessary provided product is used correctly.

Further information on storage conditions:
Keep only in the original container in a cool, dry, well ventilated place away from ignition sources, heat or flame. Protect from direct sunlight.
3.Dispose of contents/container to hazardous or special waste collection point.
Appearance: Colorless or Light Blue
Specific Gravity: 1.175 ± 0.005 at 20° C
Form: Liquid.
Smell: Pungent.
Chloride content: Nil
Additional air-entrainment: Less than 1%
Water-reduction: 10–20 % of mixing water
Setting Time: No effect at the recommended dosages.
Permeability: Reduces concrete porosity, improves waterproofing and durability.
Compressive strength: Increased early and ultimate compressive strengths
Cohesion: Improved cohesion reduces risk of segregation
Compatibility: Compatible with all types of Portland cement including Sulfate Resisting Cement (SRC)
ARMORSIL Retarder 200 is packaged in 25 litres keg and 210 litres drum. Bulk supply in delivery trucks can be arranged on demand.
Typical dosage would be 250ml to 700ml per 50kg bag of cementitious content depending on the intended duration for extending set time.
Note that the actual dosage for any situation would depend on trial mixes, the initial extension of the required set time, temperature and cement type. It is better to add ARMOR Retarder 200 to wet concrete after more than 50% of the initial water has been added. For additional information contact your ARMORSIL local representative. Note that concrete with ARMORSIL Retarder 200 can maintain workability in excess of 3 hours; however, temperature and cement type can affect the workability of concrete.
An overdose of ARMORSIL Retarder 200 may result depending on the degree, in an increase of workability and extension of setting time. Overdosing will not affect long term strength development. It is recommended that Overdosed or normal dosed concrete is properly cured
Shelf-Life
Shelf life is one year in an unopened pack. .
